Preventative Maintenance vs Reactive Maintenance

I think we all can agree that no one wants to spend money where they don't have to. We all know that plumbing is an essential, yet costly service. So I am sure that if you could find a way to save money on this service, you would. That is why having preventative maintenance regularly performed on your plumbing system is so important.

According to Angie's List, the cost reactive maintenance can be up to 12 times higher than what the cost of preventative maintenance can be.

One of the most common types problems that apply to this is leaky faucets. While it may not seem like a lot, a leaky faucet with a drip every second, can waste up to or more than 8 gallons of water a day. That comes out to almost 3,000 gallons a year! Fixing this leak immediately, however, can save you up to 10% on your monthly water bill.

Another example would be clogged drain lines. It happens to everyone. The cost to repair a clogged drain line can be up to $12,000, especially if it goes untreated. Simply having your drain line cleaned at least twice a year, will only cost you $100-$400 compared to the $12,000 if you don't.

In the end, the message is simple. Having routine preventative maintenance/service performed at least once or twice a year, can save you thousands!
